PictText XT v1.2 corrects a problem where certain command keys would incorrectly select a disabled menu item.
PictText XT v1.1 corrects a minor problem with remembering the source folder when first importing an image into an empty picture box.
PictText XT is a free XTension courtesy of Markzware which has been extracted from the more advanced XTension XState™ and the powerful SuperXState™ as a means of advertising some of its features. Full working demos of XState™ and SuperXState™ are available upon request.
PictText XT "remembers" the last used folders for "Get Picture...", "Get Text...", "Save as Text..." and "Save Page as EPS..." by automatically adding to the last used pop-up menus the names of each folder for the given function. For example, when you do "Get Picture...", the source folder for the imported image will then appear on the "Get Picture..." pop-up menu. Thereafter, selecting a folder from the menus is the same as selecting the main function (such as command-E for "Get Picture..."), except the chosen folder will be conveniently offered as the default location in the Get or Save dialogs.
Whenever you select a picture or text box that contains imported data, the source folder of the imported data will become the underlined default folder. Selecting the main function instead of a specific folder menu item will offer this default folder.
A menu item displayed in italics means the folder cannot be readily located. However, if the folders in question are on a drive not currently mounted, they will be updated to a plain style when the drive is mounted.
To remove a folder, simply select it from the menu while holding down the shift key. Pressing the shift and command keys will delete the selected menu item and all items below it. Pressing the shift and command and option keys will delete a "group" of related folders from the same volume.
PictText XT also "remembers" the attributes of a picture box so that when you perform another "Get Picture..." it will restore the picture box's original scale, offset, rotation, skew, and runaround (and "flip" for QuarkXPress 3.2 and above). For bitmap TIFF images, the color, shade and negative values are also retained. One valuable use for PictText XT is to substitute hi-res images for lo-res without losing the vital parameters.
